The Walkabout Overnighter (Ubirr - Cahills Crossing - Bardedjilidji - Gunlom Plunge Pool & Infinity Pool - Warradjan Aboriginal Culture Centre – Anbangbang Billabong)
Are you looking for the full Crocodile Dundee experience, visiting all 4 sites and scenes of these iconic movies (1 & 2) and camping overnight under a million stars in the Kakadu National Park?
If you are a serious movie buff and an avid adventurer then this tour is for you. The tour includes visits to all 4 of the most memorable locations where the movies were filmed, plus a fully guided presentation on the local culture, land and wildlife.
You will get the opportunity to camp by an open fire in a swag (Aussie sleeping bag with mosquito net) under the stars, with all your meals included. Try a bit of the local bush tucker or learn to play the digeridoo. This is about as authentic as it gets and you will be creating memories for a lifetime.
This tour will take you all throughout Kakadu as you visit the iconic, must-see destinations, including the Gunlom Infinity Pool. You will be fully immersed in Australian outback culture, and walk away feeling like a fair dinkum Aussie!
Tour Itinerary
Note: This tour is the Never Never Rock Art Tour & Sparkling Waterfall & Billabong Day Tours combined, with the addition of an overnight camping experience and a visit to the Gunlom Infinity Pool.
Day 1
Start the day with a short drive through open woodland savannah past a series of vast floodplains.
Your first stop will see you taking an easy track to the top of the escarpment lookout, along the way passing rocky shelters with ancient aboriginal art speckled throughout.
Your guide will share stories of the history and culture as he brings these artworks to life.
When you reach the top, enjoy magnificent views with the option to take your own Mick and Sue photos wearing our clothing props. You can recreate the scene where Mick points down to the plains below as he tells his tall tale.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at a nearby shelter. Then go croc spotting with your expert guide who will take you to the crossing that separates Kakadu and Arnhem land.
Journey another short distance away to find yourself walking through a spectacular sandstone outcrop, past caves and a billabong at the edge of East Alligator River.
This is the location where Sue had the job of looking after the bad guys in the second movie. It is the perfect location for another photoshoot and afternoon tea.
A 2.5hr drive away is the camping location where we will set up camp for the evening. Here you will enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the Australian outback.
In the evening, Chizo will teach you how to cook on an open fire and muster up some tasty treats such as crocodile and buffalo rissoles. You will learn how to make damper (bushman’s bread) and marshmallows toasted the traditional way (on a stick over the flame). Wildman Chizo will treat you to the sounds of the didgeridoo as you enjoy a cold beverage (BYO remember), before you get comfortable in your individual swags and look up to enjoy the million-star views.
This location includes public dunnies (toilets) and hot water showers. Unfortunately, there is NO Bidet (bid day) “the foot-washing thing” Mick found in his hotel room in the first movie.
Day 2
Rise early to the sound of the birds and the smell of the Australian outback. Enjoy a continental breakfast and then make your way to the infinity pools.
To get to the pool at the top there is a stairwell that takes you 85m upwards. It's an approximate 30-minute climb and we rate the difficulty a 7/10 with steps. From here there are stunning views and a swimming opportunity.
We then head back to the bottom plunge pool for a refreshing dip and an opportunity to recreate the scene from Crocodile Dundee 1 with our clothing props.
Head back for lunch at the campsite and then start packing so you can be on your way to the next destination.
Throughout, your guide Wildman Chizo will share stories of the wildlife and wildlands in this stunning location.
After you have had your fill of waterfalls and plunge pools, you will make your way to the Warradjan Cultural Centre, where you can top up your knowledge on indigenous culture then visit their arts and crafts gift shop.
Our last destination is North towards the Billabong, where Sue left Mick to see if she could survive on her own and where Mick was caught using a razor to shave, which he quickly swapped for a knife. This location has stunning views and amazing birdlife.
